Connection to World

-NASA used Apollo's name for the Apollo program (1963 -1972) which was used to take people to the moon which could symbolize driving his chariot across the sky.

- In New York there is a theater called the Apollo Theater(Apollo is the god of music)

Interesting Facts

Symbol/Special Talent

Being the handsome man he was, Apollo was very unlucky in love unlike his father Zeus

-Apollo has a dolphin form. Apollo Delphinus or Delphinius is the dolphin form of the god and supposively commanded a ship in this form.

-Apollo is mainly known for being the God of The Sun, but he's also god of music, poetry, art, archery, plague, medicine, light, and knowledge.

Two main symbols of Apollo are his lyre and the sun. His lyre symbolizes his special talents in music, poetry, and dance. In the Myth before, after defeating the python he played his lyre which gave him the title "The God Music"

The sun symbolizes him and his golden chariot which was used to pull the sun across the sky and also his bringing of health, crops, and prosperity to mortals.

Other symbols are raven, wolf, the laurel tree, and the bow and arrow.

Myth Appearances

A myth that Apollo appears in is the Python myth. In this myth Hera sends a huge monstrous python to persecute Leto, Apollo's mother, an act of jealousy. Only being 4 days old, though he was already a very strong boy, Apollo slays the python with his silver bow and golden arrows. With this victory the Pythian Games were created in honor of his accomplishment. The games were held every four years in Apollo's honor. =)

Family History

Apollo ==>

Apollo is the son Zeus, the king of all gods and goddesses, and the titan Leto. Apollo has and older twin sister named Artemis, the goddess of the hunt. He had relationships the Nymphs Cyrene and Daphne.

His children consisted of Asclepius(the god of healing), Orpheus the legendary musician, and Troilus and Aristaeus; two heroes.
