Countries Involved in the Two Wars

Korean War: North Korea, South Korea, United States, Russia, China, and other United Nations countries.

Vietnam War: Northern Vietnam, Southern Vietnam, United States, Russia, China, Australia, Philippines, and north Korea.

Causes of the Two Wars

Korean: United Nations wanted the two countries to unite, Kim Il-sung didn't want that to happen, so he attacked South Korea.

Vietnam War: Nationalist forces attempting to unify the country under a communist government and the United States attempting to prevent the spread of communism.

Korean War: North Korea crossed the 38th parallel, with the support of the Soviet Union. North Korea quickly took over South Korea's capital. Chinese troops came to North Korea's aid. The UN intervened and pushed North Korea back to the 38th parallel.

Vietnam War: America sent in ground troops to back up Southern Vietnam. Northern Vietnam attacked southern cities during the most important Vietnamese holiday of the year. It took American and Southern Vietnam troops by surprise, causing them to lose control over those cities.
