Diversity and Citizenship to the Fire Service

The Fire Service see diversity as a window in which they can use other public services to learn and improve their own organization. By doing this, it helps the fire service to respond sensitively and effectively to all parts of our society. Itb also helps to improve the public's response and behavior meaning that the fire service can then effectively teach our citizens about fires, their risks and how to prevent them. With this educated system, fire incidents drop and therefore save the government money.

The fire service is good for our society, is promotes citizenship through bringing people together by educating them about arson, it also gives members of society a sense of importance through potentially saving others.

What does Citizenship and Diversity mean to the Police?

The Police recognize and accept diversity in both the community and the service. They believe diversity is based on understanding each other and embracing differences. The police also view diversity as a greater access to a wider range of skills for individual and using these to help us recognize that each of us have shared rights. The polices diversity policy enables all cultures and races the chance of employment, this creates diversity within the police force which in turn can help minimize institutional racism.

Another aim of the Police is to ensure that the service holders, employees, stakeholders etc do not receive any less favorable treatment based on their race, gender, religion, belief and a range of other factors. Police believe citizenship is a very important part in keeping laws and regulations in place. An example of this being , the police were considering setting up "citizenship academies" where those from different cultures and backgrounds can earn and be informed about the laws and regulations of the UK so they can abide by these rules.
