Malta volunteered to become a part of the British Empire. When Britain first took over Malta it had no importance to the British apart from it giving Britain a small gain in power and land but over time Malta became more important to the British.
Malta became important pver time to the British Empire because of its good harbours which helped the Navy. Malta eventually became a base for the British Military and Naval forces.
One impact that Britain had on Malta was introducing the British culture into Malta including the change of Malta's main Language to English and also the politics. You can't really say wether this was good or bad because it's really a matter of opinion!

In 1812 he left England and in 1815 he went to Malta. There, he met Ismael Gibraltar, a representative of Muhammad Ali, who at the time was doing undertaking a programme of cultivating land, conversing waste land in to land suitable for people to build on or develope the land to be suitable for use by people.e.g. Farmers. Giovanni wanted to show Muhammad Ali a hydraulic machine that he invented that would raise the waters of the Nile. Though the experiment with the engine was succesful the project was not approved so Belzoni now without a job, was resolved to continue his travels.
Gionvanni was born in the republic of Venice. His dad was a barber , who had 14 children. His family was from Rome and when he was 16 he went to work in Rome, saying that he studied hydraulics. He planned on taking religious vows, but in 1798 the city was taken over by French soldiers which drove him from Rome and that changed his planned career. In 1800 he moved to the Netherlands where he made a living as a barber.
In 1803 he ran away to England to avoid being sent to jail. In England he married Sarah Bane who was born in 1783 and died in 1860. Belzoni was a tall man at 6 feet 7 inches tall and some said so was his wife, so they both joined a travelling circus. At the time Belzoni had an interest in phantasmogoria and experimented with the use of magic lanterns in his shows.

where honey comes from!Malta also attracts
lots of tourists every year as well as being a
very popular holiday destination.
This is a picture of the Isolation Hospital at Sir David Bruce Street,Mtarfa which is a Maltese island. It was built by the British Services in 1924 as port for Mtarfa Military Hospital and was used for barracks as well. I think it showed that at this time, people cared about the military and looked after their soldiers, this could have been influenced by the British.
