What

It was an armed conflict between America and the Philippines. It was a continuation of the Philippines fight for independence.

What was life like then?

Awful. Gruesome deaths, torture, etc. between the two sides.

What is life like now?

The Philippines is at time of Independence and peace. With the ability to now negotiate with each other rather participate in all out war, the Filipinos enjoy the feeling of safety.

Background:

The killings and deaths happened as a result of miss communication of the opposing forces. The American killing of the Filipino people was an accident but, the extreme maltreatment, torture, and enslavement of Filipinos was due to the racism and discrimination of the new Filipino government.

One of most important things is trying to solve situations together in a peaceful manner. For example to negotiate problems between countries so they wouldn't risk going into war.

Why

Philippines wanted to fight for independence and freedom, especially how the Spanish-American war had recently ended. Americans thought it was an insurrection so fought back.
