The "body of the house
Most Common House Styles in the Regency Period
- During the regency time period brick was considered to be unattractive looking when building a house.
- Instead the people would use Portland stone or a cheaper material called stucco.
- Both of these materials are neutral colors.
Exterior features
Exterior features included..
- flat columns next to front door
- multiple windows with occasional flower pots and decor on the windowsills
- Separate terraces on opposite sides of the house
- wrought iron fencing
- Additional decoration and topography depending on what is popular at the time
Country Houses were the most common houses in this time period.

This passage is a description of Mr. and Mrs. Collins' house. This is an important passage because it displays the reoccurring theme of architecture. In this passage the author is describing the front of the house as Elizabeth is walking up the front path into the house.
