• John Martin Crawford was born on March 29, 1962 in Steinbach, Manitoba.
• He was raised by his biological mother and step father.
• Faced many problems in school: was called stupid and did not pass grade 1.
• He was teased in school for scars and burns he had received while he was a child.
• At the age of 3, Crawford attempted to run away from home.
• He was molested at the age of 4 and 7 by his baby sitter.
• He was four years old when his first sexual experience occurred
• 13 years old when he had intercourse.
• Crawford began to sniff glue, drink and take prescription by the age of 12.
• Crawford claimed that he would hear voices in his head that tormented him.

• When arrested he had felt threatened in prison and the anxiety lead to self mutilation.

• Crawford was not married and had no children.
• Lived with his mother.
