Pros and Cons of this Reproduction

This way of reproduction is good because it is a very quick and easy thing to do. It might even happen on accident if the starfish get's accidentally broken. The bad thing is there is no variety in this way of reproduction. Everything will look identical to each other and nothing would be unique.

Welcome to the life of a . . .

STARFISH!!!!

How does a starfish reproduce?

By Jenna and Emily

If a starfish's arm is removed along with a part of the central disk(the center of the body from which the arms radiate) a whole new starfish will form from the detached piece. The starfish that lost its arm can regenerate a new arm to replace the lost limb. Since two starfish have been formed from one this is a asexual reproduction. If you see a starfish that has one arm significantly longer than the rest, this is a sign that it has regenerated some of it's limbs.
