Painting

The painting was divided into two halves. The side of ideology and theory's is on the left with famous scholars that believed in ideas and theory's. While in the right there was people that focused on logic such as Euclid.

Representation of Humanist and Renaissance Thought

The school of Athens represented Humanist and Renaissance thought by focusing more on the philosophy than religion. There is little to no reference to theology in this painting. It focuses entirely logic, ethics and philosophy. It only showed important Greek scholars. For example, Plato and Aristotle.

Relationship With others

This work of art was created while Michelangelo was working on the Sistine Chapel across the street. This represents that the issues of man could work side by side with issues of the church.
