Lord Of The Flies Timeline

Conclusion

Chapter 8

Chapter 3

Chapter 6

"‘There’s nothing in it of course. Just a feeling. But you can feel as if you’re not hunting, but—being hunted, as if something’s behind you all the time in the jungle’”(Chapter 3)

[Ralph] remembered the panic flight down the mountainside. ‘I don’t think we’d ever fight a thing that size, honestly, you know. We’d talk but we wouldn’t fight a tiger. We’d hide. Even Jack ’ud hide.

"'I'm chief. We've got to make certain [that there is no beast]....There's no signal showing [on the mountain]. There may be a ship out there'"(Chapter 6)

At the start of the book the group were almost certain that there was no beast. Slowly the talk of the beast started to increase and the littluns were afraid of the beast. Not after to long some of the bigguns started to fear of it also by hearing what the littluns think of the beast. Then came the acuall image of the beast which was just a parachuit, the group was now very scared of it and thought that it lives in the sea. Just after, the shadows of the parachuit had started to appear and the group had started to go insane of the beast. At the end the group have started to create chaos and waste time just looking for the beast.

Chapter 5

Analize

Ralph and the others have seen the shadows of the parachute and noticed that it looked like a tiger and was very large. Ralph says that fighting a tiger would be very hard and that they would rather hide if it is to come up. Then he brings up Jack, he says that Jack would also hide because even though Jack is a good hunter it would not be possible to fight the beast which Ralph says is a tiger

Analize

Ralph was trying to convince the littluns that there is no beast but none of them were listning so he decided to prove it by going up the mountain where they think the beast is. He also wanted to go and set up the fire again because they could be rescued if any ships pass by.

Chapter 9

Chapter 2

This quote indicates that when jack and his hunters went hunting in the forest for meat they felt as if the beast is trying to hunt them down. They knew that there was nothing in the forest but it feels to them as if it was behind them and trying to kill them.

‘ Maurice took a breath. "My daddy says there’s things, what d’you call’em that make ink—squids—that are hundreds of yards long and eat whales whole"’(Chapter 5)

Ralph said, “’I hit him all right. The spear stuck in. I wounded him!’ He sunned himself in their new respect and felt that hunting was good after all. ‘I walloped him properly. That was the beast, I think!’ Jack came back. ‘That wasn’t the beast. That was a boar’”(Chapter 7)

'But there isn't a beastie!’(Chapter 2)

“Now a great wind blew the rain sideways, cascading the water from the forest trees. On the mountain-top the parachute filled and moved; the figure slid, rose to its feet, spun, swayed down through a vastness of wet air and trod with ungainly feet the tops of the high trees; falling, still falling, it sank toward the beach and the boys rushed screaming into the darkness. The parachute took the figure forward, furrowing the lagoon, and bumped it over the reef and out to sea” (Chapter 9)

When the conversation about the beast was going on, Maurice told the group the one time his dad had told him that squids are hundreds of yards long and that the eat whales. Obviously Maurice's dad was lying to him to make him do something.

This quote was said many times. The reason for this is because the littluns were overexaggerating the beast and they wanted to make it clear that there is no beast on the island so that the littluns wont fear about it.

Analize

Ralph was very glad that he had finally killed the beast by throughing a spear at it and ending out with it beeing wounded. After experiencing hunting Ralph thought that it was good after all. But when Jack had came back he told Ralph that he did not kill the beast it was just a boar.

Analize

During a storm the wind had blew the parachute which was the image of the beast and made it start flying it went near the tops of the trees and then it went towards the beach where the boys were. The boys started screaming and ran away thinking that it is an acual beast, the parachute went towards the lagoon and then out to sea.
