Germany is currently facing a demographic crisis, and it has one of the lowest fertility rates in Europe since the 1970s.

  • 734 000 people left Germany in 2009 , while 721 000 migrated.

Migration in 2050s

  • In order to stabilize the birth rate an additional half a million people would need to migrate per year until 2050
  • It won't continue to be an attractive immigration destination
  • There might be a little bit of an increase in Migration ( due to retirement)

Languages

  • German is not only the offcial language but it is also the most widely spoken one.

  • There are about a 100 million native speakers worldwide and about 80 million non-native speakers.

  • In major cities the languages that can be heard are Arabic,Greek,Italian,Polish,Turkish and Russian.

Economy

  • It has the 18th freest economy in the 2014 index

  • Germany has the world's 4th largest national economy

  • They focus mainly on industrially produced good and services

  • Based on the amount of time you have been contribuiting to the system you will recieve old age pension from the government at age 65 or 67

  • National pension might not be enough, so people pay into government supported private pension plans

  • Public and Private Health Insurance ( this depends on your income)

Social Deviance

  • Maintain a connection with society

  • Various disciplinary approaches

  • Different methods of diversion

  • Focuses on resocialization and rehabilitation

  • 39% of the population will be over 60 years old
  • The population is expected to drop significantly to around 69 million
  • The "old age dependancy ratio" will rise to 55.8.
