The Story of Samson

The Story of Job

"And find out what pleases the Lord" Ephesians 5:10

Samson, the strongest man in the bible, is meant to be a Nazirite. This means that he is set apart to serve God. He can't drink wine, cut his hair, or touch a dead body. Samson didn't do as he was told. He wanted things his way, and being a Nazirite didn't matter to him. Samson killed a lion with his bare hands, killed thirty Philistines, and he did something else very terrible. He found 300 foxes, tied them together in pairs, fastened a burning torch to their tails and sent them into the Philistines' fields. Delilah, his wife, tricked him one day into telling her his weakness. She told the Philistines, and they captured Samson. God gave him strength one last time when he was chained up. He pulled down the walls, killing all the Philistines. Samson died during this also.

"So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good." 1 Peter 4:19

The story of Job is about a man being tested by God. He was faithful to God. Job owned thousands of camels and sheep and over five hundred donkeys and oxen! He had many servants to care for all of his animals and his house. Satan said to God, "Take away all of his belongings, and he will curse you!" God allowed this to happen, but Job was still faithful to God. Next satan said, "Take away his health and he will curse you." God allowed it, but Job stayed faithful. One day Job asked God why all these things were happening to him, and God did not answer. Instead He showed Job he was good and faithful.

The Story of Job

This story shows us, we should stay faithful to God, no matter how tough our life may be. We need to show faith to God through any and everything. If something bad happens, we cannot blame God. He does not make the bad things happen, but He will help you through whatever it is. Nothing is too big for God.

Discussion Questions

How can you show God faith even through the tough times?

Do you believe the saying 'everything happens for a reason'?

The Story of Samson

Ruth and Naomi

Sometimes God will call on us to do something amazing. We should not ignore him, but we should listen to him. God has the best plan for you and He knows best so we should listen to His call for us and do what He says. Samson was called to be a Nazarite, but he didn't listen to God calling for him. If we listen, God can do amazing things through us.

Ruth and Naomi

Discussion Questions

Ruth cared about Naomi so much, she came back to Bethelehem with her. If we care about someone, we will do whatever we can to help them. God wants us to love and care for everyone and to treat others the way we would want to be treated. This is something we should always remember.

Do you feel like God is calling you to do something amazing?

If God is calling you, would you listen and obey Him?

Diccusion Questions

Deborah and Gideon

Have you ever cared about someone so much that you would do anything for them?

"Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God, my God." Ruth 1:16

The story of Ruth and Naomi begins when all the men in Naomi's family die and she is left alone to care for her two daughter-in-laws, Ruth and Orpah. Ruth is determined to come with Naomi back to Bethlehem. There they meet a man named Boaz. Ruth was picking up any extra grain she could get from the field. Boaz marries Ruth and Boaz becomes her kinsman-redeemer. That means Boaz will buy back Naomi's land and take care of Ruth and Naomi.

Does someone care about you so much that they have done something for you?

"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7

One day Deborah said to Barak, "The Lord commands you to go and fight Sisera. God will deliver him into your hands." Barak agreed to go fight if Deborah would go with him. Barak called 10,000 men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun and took Deborah with him. The Lord put Sisera's army into confusion and they ran away, leaving their chariots. Barak killed all of them except Sisera who escaped into a tent of a women named Jael. Jael welcomed Sisera into her tent and told him to take a nap. Once he was asleep, she hammered a tent peg into his head. Deborah had told Barak that Sisera would be handed over to a women.

Entering Caanan

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night... For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8

The Lord said to Joshua, "Cross over the Jordan River, and I will help you fight the giants." Joshua was afraid, but he had faith. He knew God would be with them. Joshua attacked Jericho first. Once the Israelites conquered Jericho, Caanan would be divided in half. They could move north or south. Joshua chose two men he trusted to sneak into Caanan and bring back a report. They gathered the information and went to Rahab's home. She protected them. The spies promised Rahab that if she hung a scarlet cord out her window, no one in her house would be killed. When the Israelites were crossing the Jordan River, it was raging with flood waters. The priests, carrying the ark of the covenant, stepped into the water, and it stopped and the ground became dry. They placed stones in the middle of the place they crossed, so they could remember what God has done for them.

Deborah and Gideon

God is faithful and He wants us to always remember what He has done for us. God does many things for us, and we should always remember them. When God is faithful to you and helps you through it, take a small rock and write something on it. Whenever you are sad and feel like God has left you, go look at your stones, and remember how faithful He has been to you. We can't forget all the amazing things God does for us and just concentrate on the bad things. Look on the bright sides of things and always remember how God is faithful to you.

Are you ALWAYS faithful to God?

God equips ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Jael was an ordinary girl but she defeated Sisera. I bet Jael was scared to kill Sisera, but it was what she needed to do. Don't underestimate people. God can use anyone to do anything. If you look at someone small trying to move rock, you may think, they will never be able to do that. That is not the right thing to think. You would be underestimating that person for something you think they can't do.
