Also 95% of people that live in the Bahamas are christain, and many people who live on the Bahamas are of west african descent whoes ancestors were captured and forced into slavery. A fun fact is junkanoo is a colorful Bahamian parade held on boxing day.

The Bahamas is an archipelago nation with about 700 islands, and only about 40 of those islands are populated. The islands cover an area of about 100,000 square miles. The Bahamas is considered to be part of the Caribbean, it is not geographically in the Caribbean. The Bahamas is located in the Atlantic Ocean. The Bahamas is right on the edge of the infamous Bermuda Triangle. The highest point in the Bahamas is in Cat Island on Mount Alvernia which is 207 feet tall.

The Nassau Grouper is only found in the Bahamas and you can find them in rocky areas of reefs and can be found in caves. Watch out for the poisonous Black Widow and Bottle spiders. There are also some poisonous fish to watchout for. Some fish like that would be the lion fish, the stone fish, and the Barracuda. Something else to watchout for are sharks. There are many different kinds of sharks like the Nurse Shark, Lemon Shark, Oceanic White Tip Shark, Tiger Shark, Hammerhead Shark, and Reef Shark so watch out. Some other cool animals that live in the Bahamas are the Blue Crab, the Magnificent Frigate Bird, the Blue Heron, and the Loggerhead Turtle.

Some exotic plants are the Royal Poinciana, the African Tulip, the Poor Man's Orchid Allamanda, Bougainvillea, If you see a Manchineel Tree, don't eat its green fruit! If you do you will be temporarily blind. Some other plants to look out for are Chalice Vine, Day Jessamine, and the Black Nightshade. A very common and poisonous one is the Oleander which even though it is highly toxic to children it is often planted in school yards. While swimming be careful not to step on any fire coral! You will get a bad rash that you will not like. Some other trees are the Black Poisonwood, Dumb Cane, Sea Grape Tree, Ming Tree. Some other cool plants are Prickly Pear and Pigeon Plum.
