Common good is the basis of having political society

Apprehension of the truth- common good is realized

Activities are exercised within moral order required by human nature & nature of the authority

The virtues in the ideal leader will also direct him towards the true end because injustice will not be in his character

The leader should love the truth which will lead them towards achieving the good of society

The qualities of a good leader enable him to be aware of what is best for the state and leads the state towards achieving this good. Also, a leader with these qualities doesn’t have the desire for material gain.

With his love for truth, a leader shall not consort to dubious dealings such as corruption. He shall endeavor to do what is good for all, using the right means.

With knowledge, he will not consort with the many; he will look at things in their totality and not in their multiplicity

The leader should guard the laws and institutions of the state; the leader is able to grasp the unchangeable which is the truth. Excessive legalization, which is mostly for the enrichment of individuals and not the society, will be eliminated.

Sophists teachings on law and justice are condemned, because they brought up laws that were contradictory to human nature and taught that justice is when a person gets what he needs to be satisfied or become more powerful than others

Those able to govern should take control of the state so as to restore order.

Ideal Leader : Should be able to solve the conflict and instability. No laws will be made until the leaders have been able to root out the vices from society and uphold the virtues

So as to unify the people, a leader should consider the common good and plan the right means to attain it.

He should be impartial in his leadership for the good of the people.

Ethics is part of politics. The principles of ethics are equal to principles of rational behavior, and in politics, a leader should organize his conduct rationally

Political action is human action- rational

Freedom and responsibility are the basis of political power. Responsibility is defined by moral freedom.

Political authority from the sense of ethics should guard laws of the state for the good of the community.

QUESTION 3:Qualities of political leadership

Rulers should have knowledge of what is good for the state and lead the state towards achieving that good.

The enactment of laws should be for the best and the rule by the ideal political leader with the qualities of a true philosopher would be for the good of the state.

A political leader should be knowledgeable of the true being, i.e. grasp the being in totality so as to be able to know what is good for the society

Love truth- incorruptible.

Courage- to fight for what is upright. He should not be swayed by the opinion of the majority.

Love justice- the leader will be able to protect the rights of everyone, as with justice, everyone is given what is due to him

Temperance- the leader will not let his desires of having material wealth at the expense of the society. The pleasures of life such as richness and rank will have no place in his character.
