The treaty was made to settle the Polish-Russian War and set borders of Poland since the Supreme Council of the Treaty of Versailles did not establish Poland's eastern frontier.
The treaty had given Poland parts of Belorussia and Ukraine. The Soviets were to make payments from using their gold reserves and in precious stone for the railroad cars, while Poland had to do no payments. The Treaty had lasted until World War 2. A new treaty was established as it's replacement to make new borders.
