Powers of the Federal and State Governments
Group Activity
- Each group will need to come up with two current examples of their assigned division of power.(Delegated, Reserved, Concurrent)
- One example must be associated with science or technology. Explain changes overtime within your division
- The groups will be presenting their findings with the rest of the class.
- Students may research using the class computers or their own technology.
Concurrent Powers
Powers shared by the federal government and the states.
Reserved Powers
- Powers set aside by the constitution for the people or the states.
Examples of Concurrent Powers
- Borrow money
- Raise money through taxes
- Establish courts
- Create Banks
- Enforce laws
- provide for the well being of citizens
Delegated Powers
Examples of Reserved Powers
- Powers given to the federal government by the constitution.
- Conducting elections
- Regulate trade within state
- Establish local government
