I believe the theme of the book The Witch Of Blackbird Pond is that you should not judge people by the way they look or seem. You need to get to know them.
I didn't really enjoy this book because it's just not what I'm into. I like books with mythical creatures or science fiction books. I disliked the time period it was in because I don't usually like books in that time period. I Liked the fact that Kit was different though and she accepted the fact that she was different and didn't try and be like everyone else.
If i was recommending this book to someone i would tell them that it would be a great choice if they were into historical fiction books because it was based on a historical time period.
The mood of this book is very serious. Everyone in the town seems to be extremely serious and do not accept Kit.
The genre is Historical Fiction.
"Look at Judith, sitting with her hands folded in her lap. Didn't her feet ever go to sleep?"
The time period of the book is in 1687.
This quote shows that they are very serious.

It is fiction because the events that took place in the book didn't really happen, but they could have.
"you're afraid of Hannah because you don't know her."
This quote shows that they are judgemental.
The clothing described in the book is what people wore in this time period.
"Quakers are stubborn people."
This quote is also judgemental because Aunt Rachel doesn't even know Hannah Tupper.
Kit is proved innocent of witchcraft and has a choice to return to Barbados as a free single woman and a governess.
There is no exact antagonist in this book, but Uncle Mathew can be seen as one because he always gets in Kit's way. He is old but it doesn't say his age, he's a male, and the relationship to the main character is that he is Kit's Uncle.
Katherine Tyler- (Kit) She is a teenager, she is female, and she is the main character. She is from a rich family in Barbados. She travels by a ship to the Connecticut Colony to look for her Aunt Rachel. Her aunt is her only relative that is still alive. She prefers to be called "Kit" because her grandfather used to call her that.
The author describes it as "She would go as a single woman who must work for her living. Her best chance, she had decided, lay in seeking employment as a governess in one of the wealthy families. She liked teaching children, and hopefully there might be a library where she could extend her own learning as well as that of her charges. Whatever befell, there would be a blue sky overhead, and the warmth and color and fragrance and beauty that her heart craved. "
Hannah Tupper- She is an elderly woman who lives alone in the meadows of Wethersfield. She is a widow and is shunned by the people of the town. She is a widow and she becomes friends with Kit and accepts Kit for who she is when no one else will. She likes fluffy kittens and she extremely misses her late husband Thomas Tupper.
Aunt Rachel- She is old like Uncle Mathew, but it also doesn't say her age. She is female and she is the main character, Kit's, Aunt. She is married to Uncle Mathew and is Kit's only living relative left. She is Kit's Late Mother's sister. Late as in dead.
The Witch Of Blackbird Pond is set in 1687.
In The Connecticut Colony.
In the beginning of the story Kit has to move to America because she wants to find her Aunt Rachel. Her Aunt is the only relative she has that is still alive. She is excited to see the beautiful America that she has heard of. Eventually she ends up disappointed because it is not as beautiful as she had hoped.
Then Kit tries to be nice by letting her cousins try on her clothing and gives some of her dresses and gloves to them, but her Uncle Mathew does not approve of her clothing style and demands the girls give Kit back her dresses.
Nobody seems to accept Kit because of thee way she dresses and because she is not used to the traditions and customs of the town yet. She needs to learn to fit in.
She has also been accused of witch craft.
"She didn't want to admit how disappointing she found this first glimpse of America. The bleak line of shore surrounding the gray harbor was a disheartening contrast to the shimmering green and white that fringed the turquoise bay of Barbados which was her home. The earthen wall of the fortification that faced the river was bare and ugly, and the houses beyond were no more than plain wooden boxes."
