Materrials
- At the school CEIP Marinada http://blocs.xtec.cat/marinadaceip/ del Vallès, there is great cultural, religious and linguistic diversity. There are students coming from other countries; mainly from the North of Africa and South America
- Approximately 70-80% of the students speak Spanish as their mother tongue. The rest Arabic, Berber and other languages from the rest of Africa
- The socio-cultural and economic level of the families is low
- The English level is low too because of the previous facts. And for this reason I chose this story as a CLIL project (it should use it in P-3 / P-4 grade instead of 1st grade)
- In essence, students are to be supported in the learning, comprehension and production, of the foreign language by the teacher through various strategies, and also through peers and learner autonomy
- CLIL projects are very interesting because students can find a purpose in the language. They use English in another subject (Science in that case)
- For the students were an extra motivation because they loved the topic (Life cycle of a butterfly) and they were open to new activities and new ways to use English in the class
- For me, as a teacher, wasn’t difficult to plan the project because I did it before. Nowadays , there is a lot of material that can be use to help us during the all process
- The material I have prepared is very visual and catchy for the students to be motivated during the process
- The experience in the class was fantastic but at the beginning I wasn’t very sure if the students could be able to understand this new way of working
- I am very proud of my students because working at this school and at this level (1st grade) is not easy because of the context. It’s a 1st grade group but the level is P-5
- I have learnt a lot of things according to digital materials that can be used in the class get away from the traditional methodology (Teacher- Student interaction)
- It has been a pity not to have more time to go a little bit deepest in the development of the activities
- In conclusion, a great way to put in practice everything I learned during the course
