What is this important for the field of Emergency Mangement?
- Global climate change and its negative impacts may be the most significant threat that we face as a nation. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), “warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level”
- Fema is making it tougher for govenors to deny man made climate change
- States seeking preparedness money will have to assess how climate change threatens their community
- Climate Change effects include intesified wildfires, higher sea levels, extreme rainfall, windstorms and heat waves.
