Most people say Drais doesn't deserve the credit for inventing the bicycle, because his version had no pedals and was not close to what we have today as a bike.
Drais was an aristocrat who became a democrat and supported the failed revolution of 1848(Hoefer).
His reason for inventing the bicycle was all because he wanted to find a way to get around the royal garden faster(Woodforde).
Drais' big democratic idea behind the running machine was to find a muscle-powered replacement for the horse that would allow large numbers of people faster movement than walking or riding in a coach. Horses were expensive, needed a groom and consumed lots of food even when not in use( Hoefer).
Drais is the main reason that we have bicycles in our society today. He came up and introduced his invention to the world and it rapidly grew and changed since that day, and still is changing.
Karl Drais brought the world one of the greatest inventions of all time. His contributions are what brought the type of bicycle we have today. Thanks to Drais the bicycle has transformed cities, towns, and university campuses into bike friendly places and is still being massed produced today.
He figured out how to build, work, and use a great invention that would soon be more popular that anyone would of thought.
His invention allowed people to have a quick, easy, and cost free way of transportation, Along with being environmentally friendly
