The death of a high mass star
Black Holes
- A dying Red Super Giant star can suddenly explode
- This is called a "supernova"
- A Neutron star is the remaining of a high mass star
- When a Neutron star dies it becomes a black hole
- After a high mass star dies a large amount of mass may remain
- The gravity of the mass is so strong that gas is pulled inward
- Eventually the gravity will be so strong that nothing can escape
The death of a low and high mass star
- After a low or high mass star has become a red giant the outer part drifts into space
- The White Dwarf eventually will run out of fuel and dies,it becomes a Brown Dwarf

Main sequence and Protostar
- All stars start as a nebula
- A nebula is a large cloud of gas and dust
- Gravity pulls some of the gas and dust in a nebula together
- When a main sequence star begins to run out of fuel, the star becomes a Red Giant or a Red Super Giant
- A protostar is the earliest stage of a stars life.
- Once the stars has "turned on"it is known as a main sequence star
- When a main sequence star begins to run out of hydrogen fuel,it becomes a red giant and a red super giant.
- The H-R Diagram stands for The Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram
- In 1910 Hertzsprung and Russell produced a graph of these properties
- O,B,A,F,G,K,M is a way to remember or "Oh Be A Fine Girl (or Guy) Kiss Me"
