Meaning Behind the Liturgy of the Eucharist...
- The preparation of the "gifts" (bread and wine) and preparation of the altar. Offerings of money to support the Church are also provided.
- Eucharist Prayer: "Holy, Holy, Holy," the Priest gives thanks to Christ and asks for the Holy Spirit's blessing on the bread and wine.
- Communion Rite: People who have received their communion and are confirmed Catholics receive the bread/wine and non-confirmed Christians receive a blessing from the Priest.
"Eucharist" has the same meaning as the "Holy Eucharist" and derives from the Greek word for "Thanksgiving."
Catholics/Christians connect to the Eucharist on a spiritual level, and they believe that they can be forgiven of their past or recent sins through this process whilst also worshiping and thanking Christ.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist is nearly everywhere in the Scriptures, but well known to have occurred during the last supper: "Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, 'Take, eat; this is my body.' And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, 'Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'" (Mt. 26:26-28)
