DPS Image
Double Page Spread
My double page spread uses conventions from pop music magazines double page spreads. It does because the image of the model on my DPS represents her as a female icon. This is because of the way her pose is positioned as she shows shes powerful and feminine as what artists featured in pop magazines do. Then also she isn't being represented as sexual as she is wearing clothes that are covered up and not revealing some magazines such as Billboard typically do this to their models to attract in a male audience. Typical pop magazines do not do this as their target audience is young teenage girls and the artists are only represented as icons for their audience to look up to. Then also my artist is wearing very stylish and fashionable clothes which links in with your typical pop music magazine as they all wear fashionable and new clothes. Then also my model is wearing a lot of make-up this is so she looks appealing to the audience and doesn't look rough and all patchy and this is the same as your typical models do in pop magazines.
Front Page
Fonts
My music magazine goes against the typical pop magazine with the layout of my page and music article. The reason it goes against typical pop magazines is because their layout is normally very short articles and use more than one image on their double page spread. I went against it and my article was longer than the ones used in a pop magazine and I only used on main image on my double page spread. My double page spread links in more with the way billboard magazines double page as they use a simple layout of only a few images and their articles are very long and detailed.
The fonts that I have used on my front page challenges the typical fonts that you would see on a pop magazine. The fonts that I have used on my front page are more stylish and more plain than the type of fonts you see on pop magazines. I used these types of fonts because the target audience of my magazine is a slightly older range than the ones you see used on typical pop magazines as their very feminine and girly. I also didn't use exclamation marks on my front cover as all the typical pop magazines do because teenage girls use a lot of slang and apostrophes. My fonts more blend in with my sub genre of chart magazines such as Billboard who use these type of fonts because they are have a more older audience than the pop magazines and their audience prefer more grown up and simple fonts that look stylish.
Front Page
Title
Contents Page Font
The title of my music magazine on the front page challenges the typical font and name that you would see used on a pop magazine. I decided to go against the pop genre here of using very feminine and bright colours for my title and an occasional bright banner to make it stand out even more. I went for with my font and name a more mature and older theme which my title is quite dark and mysterious which matches the image I was trying t give across about my music artist. The style of my font and name represents more of my sub genre billboard because they use quite plain fonts on their title and then brighten it up by changing colours of certain letters.
Font & Colour Scheme of DPS
The font that I used goes against the typical sub genre of pop magazines. This is because my font is very sophisticated and stylish whereas in pop magazines their font is quite girly and use love hearts and twirls in them. I went for this style of font because I wanted the font to go with the layout of my contents page which is simple but elegant.
My music magazine title
The fonts and colour scheme that I used on my magazine was quite mature and simple colours as my colour scheme was just black and red. This goes against your typical pop magazines as they use very bright and girly colours such as purple and bright pink. They do this is to attract in their young teenage female target audience as these are the typical teenage female colours that they like. I went for these colours because it made my double page spread look very classy and sophisticated as my target audience is slightly older than the pop music magazines.
Contents Page Images
The images that I have used in my contents page goes against pop magazines. This is because my images that are displayed on the contents page are more high quality than the ones displayed on your typical pop magazines because their images aren't taken themselves normally taken off websites so their quite low quality. Then also their layout of there images on their contents page is different as I have only used 3 images for my contents page and typical pop magazines have loads of images pasted all over their contents page. My contents page links in more with a chart music one because they use a very simple layout of their images and only use around 4 images.
Front Page
Contents Page Layout
My front page of my product represents a typical pop magazine through the clothes that the artist is wearing. The artist is wearing clothes that are in with the latest fashion trend. This is what all the typical pop female artist wear the latest trend fashion to stand out from wearing outfits that their target audience of middle aged female girls will want to own these outfits look like them. Then also my artist on the front page is wearing a substantial amount of make-up and this links with pop magazine artists as they all wear a substantial amount of make-up in the pop magazines to look appealing and naturally perfect skin to their target audience. Then the artist is being represented as a female icon to the target audience of middle aged teenage girls so they want to aspire to be this music artist and isn't displayed on the front cover to look sexually appealing to the male audience to attract them in. This links in with most pop magazines as their female music artists are there for the teenage girls to see as iconic instead of being there for the males appeal.
The layout of my contents page goes against typical pop music magazines. This is as the layout of my contents page is very simple and elegant because my target audience dont want to be overcrowded with information of what is inside the magazine. Whereas layouts of pop magazines are very overcrowded with information and images of what is featured inside the magazine.
