HOW THE BALLISTA WORKS

To operate the roman ballista you need to pull back the two wheels on the back of the firing groove which will pull back the rope. The rope is attached to 2 wooden beams that have rope wound around them, so that when you pull them back they'll spring forward. The rope will then be very tight. You then place your projectile in the firing groove and make sure its not coming out. Then you release the string and the projectile

goes flying.

WHAT IS THE BALLISTA

WHAT THE ROMAN BALLISTA IS MADE OF

The roman Ballista is a siege weapon the roman legion used. It was first used around 389 BC there were two types of ballista the ballista and the catapulta.

In the end the romans developed a sniper version of the ballista called the Scorpio.

The roman ballista was made of wood , rope(made out of interwined intestines),and little bit of metal. The reason the romans used so little metal is because it was hard to get with their technology it was also hard to shape into a delicate shape, expensive and it would rust. The reason they used so much wood in the construction of the ballista is because it was easy to craft and shape, water proof ,flexible and easy to disassemble. The reason they made their rope out of intestines is because they are cheap, easy to get, strong and stretchy and you can just put down old animals and get their intestines.
