Matthew Holler
Characters of the book
Matthew is Kate's friend that she met in creative writing class. He was friendly, handsome and had a great taste in music according to Kate. He played guitar and wrote music. Personally in the end i was hoping Kate and Matthew were going to tell each other they liked one another because i totally saw the connection between them two.
This is what I think Matthew sort of looks like.
Marylin McIntosh
On the other hand, Marylin cared a lot about popularity. And that is exactly what she was. She had her cheerleader title, the looks and was friends with the right people. Though she missed Kate and hated one of her cheerleader friends she didn't do much about it because she cared too much of what others thought.
Mazie Calloway
This is an idea of what i imagined her to look like.
Mazie was my least favorite character. She was the 8th grade bossy head cheerleader. Mazie was super judgemental, rude, controlling and got away with it because no one stood up to her.

Kate Faber
Rhetta Mayes
Kate Faber is personally my favorite character in this novel. Kate didn't care to be popular and girly. She liked guitars, rock music and big black boots. All she was was herself and didn't care that others thought she was odd and/or different.
Rhetta isn't really a main character in this novel but I think she was sort of important. Marylin met her in English class and got interested in Rhetta's drawings. They became friends eventually if but Marylin never showed it because Rhetta was "different". Rhetta loved art and drawing. When Marylin and her hung out, Rhetta did her makeup and did an amazing job! Rhetta taught Marylin that even if someone wears all black and presents themself differently than the populars, it's about what is on the inside that really matters.
When I read about Kate, this is what I pictured.
