During this period, the pre-vedic era ceased, thus the beginning of the Vedic period. During this time, Hinduism was gaining popularity, causing the Veda's to begin being formulated. The Veda's were sacred scriptures of Hinduism.

The Indus Valley Civilization appreared during this time. This was considered a Bronze Age Civilization. This was also the beginning of the Hindu religion as many ideas were formulated during this time.

This is the time period when teachings of Hinduism began to become popular. With the help of Vedas, teachers and guru's began sharing important information regarding Hinduism. During this time, temples became a popular place of worship and the culture within India began to unite.

As Hinduism grew in popularity and importance in India, many more people began to follow the religion. This caused two small divisions. Buddhism and Jainism stemmed from Hinduism. These religion's have their orgins in Hinduism and follow many of the same beliefs, just with a few variations.

Muslim Empire

Just as the Muslim Empire effected Hinduism in India, British rule beginning in India also had its effect. This rule brought Christianity to India for what is recorded as the first time. With the coming of British rule, also came missionaries. These missionaries came with the idea of converting people to Christianity. This, evidently, caused many peopel to turn from Hinduism to Christianity.

Hinduism teachings were quickly becoming more popular with the birth of new sacred texts, such as the Gita and Ramayana. The spread of Hinduism greatly increased, travelling through places such as Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia.

As the religion Islam grew, it traveled through India. This caused the first Muslim Empire to be built. This would have greatly effected Hinduism. As with any growing religion, Islam was searching for followers, which would have taken effect when the Muslim Empire was built.

End of British Rule

1869-1948

Mohandas Gandhi

This time period reflects the life of political leader Mohandas Gandhi. During his life, Gandhi had a massive influence on Hinduism. Many of his beliefs regarding anti-violence are treasured in Hinduism.

In 1947, the British rule over India came to an end. As a result, Pakistan and India were created as modern states. This has allowed Hinsuism to thrive and continue to become more and more popular.
