Coca-Cola is a carbonated non-alcoholic drink intended to be like the French wine Coca, which had just been made illegal. The company is now a multi-National enterprise that essentially controls the world of non-alcoholic beverages.

This was the first international olympics. it was held at Athens. It was the first olympic games to be held in the modern era. Due to its success led to more olympics being held after it, which still happens to this day.

The federation of Australia was when Australia became recognized as a Country of it own by the rest of the world.

Aston Martin is a popular British manufacturer of Sports cars. millions of people buy an Aston Martin each year resulting in much money going to the company it is owned by, Ford.

The Eiffel Tower is a large Iron Lattice tower. It was built as the entrance to the 1889 world fare. it is a global and cultural icon. it is also one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It is also a large tourist attraction.

This was a trade between three main ports. Its primary trade was slaves however it did carry other goods as well. it ended in the early 19th century as slaves started becoming illegal and there were easier ways to transport goods.

The titanic was a newly build british passenger ship. It sunk on it's maiden voyage when it hit an iceberg, causing the death of 1,502 people. At the time of its sinking, it was the largest ship that had ever been afloat.

This was a war between the 13 colonies of America. they were fighting for freedom and independence of British rule. Eventuality France, the Netherlands and Spain joined in to help the Americans. It ended with Britain losing and Recognition of Americas Independence from the united states.

The French Revolution was a revolution that lasted 10 years. The people were unhappy with the aristocratic society and with their king. over the 3 years there was a massive social and political change. it ended with France declaring themselves and Republic and the king being beheaded.

World War 1 was a war that was supposed to end all wars. it was fought between the Allied forces and an alliance between Germany and Austria-Hungry. Germany and Austria-Hungry lost. During this war many technological advancements in weaponry occurred. It also resulted in many deaths. It is because Germany lost this war that World War 2 occured.

This was an aircraft designed, built and flown by the famous Wright brothers. it was the first powered, controlled and piloted aircraft flight in history.

The first fleet is a fleet of 11 ships that Left Britain to go to Australia and colonize it. It was intended to be a prison colony. The fleet was commanded by Captain Arthur Phillip. the fleet went to Botany Bay and discovered that it was a bad place for a colony, so the sailed up the cost to Sydney cove where they set up the colony.

In 1768, Lieutenant James Cook was sent to observe the transit of veins (An Astronomical event) from Tahiti. He also had orders to attempt to find 'The Great Southern Land'. He found the southeastern corner on the 20 April 1770. 9 days later he found Botany Bay, which he thought could be a great harbor. he made landfall, raised the British flag claiming The Continent from the British Empire and continued sailing up the coast, mapping it as he went. This event led to the eventual colonization of Australia.

The Declaration of independence was adopted by a congress of America which stated that 13 of the American colonies were now independent states and not under british rule, who they were at war with at the time. This led to the Americans becoming independent.

Captain James Cook was an Explorer, Navigator and a Cartographer for the British Royal Navy. He made several pacific explorations and is credited with the first recorded european contact with Australia and Hawaii.

The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the Peoples of America from France. it is of the Roman goddess of freedom, Libertas. It has the Date the American Declaration of Independence was signed, carved into the Tablet she is holding. It is an icon of Freedom for the American People.

Bennelong was an Aboriginal man who lived around the port Jackson (Sydney Cove) area during the time when the first fleet landed their. He was like an Ambassador for the Aboriginal people. He learned English and joined the british settlement and eventually went to England.

The Eureka Stockade was a stockade built by agitated miners on the gold fields of Ballarat. The miners were agitated by the unfair rules and regulations on the gold fields that were imposed by the government so they built a stockade to protect themselves from soldiers and police officers. On the morning of December 3, 276 military personal attacked the stockade. They overran the miners who had little fighting skill. the battle lasted 15 minutes. the result was 22 miners killed and 6 dead soldiers. However word quickly spread to Melbourne and other nearby settlements. In disgust the general population supported the diggers ideals which eventually led to their rights restored and the diggers wishes granted. some people view this incident as the birth of democracy in Australia.

Gold was discovered near Ballarat, in Victoria Australia. This led to a Huge gold rush with people sailing in from all over the world in an attempt to find their fortunes in gold. this rush led to a massive population boom in the nearby city of Melbourne and a massive amount of money put into Melbourne which stimulated its economy.

The Industrial Revolution was a period of time where many new machines where invented including the steam engine. it was a period where daily life was influenced and changed a lot. The specific date that the industrial Revolution ended is debatable, so his is just an date where it approximately ended.

June 10, 1838: Myall Creek Massacre

At Myall Creek in New South Wales Australia, about 30 unarmed Aboriginals were murdered by 12 settlers. the settlers captured them at a station that they were staying at, tied them up together and took them to a nearby gully where they slaughtered them. they left 1 woman alive who they spent the next few days with. they then went and killed the rest of the Aboriginals who had being staying at the station, and were at work nearby. 7 of the Settlers who did it were convicted of murder hanged. This is significant in history as it is a disturbing example of the treatment of the Aboriginal people at that time.
