Is adult led play important?
A child may not want to do the adult led activity

It allows higher risk activities
from my research i found that adult led activities do not necessarily benefit children's development more than any child led activities overall. However, adult led play can benefit children's development by giving them a wider range of activities to learn from.
I found that there is not many theorists based just around adult led play. Although, i still feel like is important and there should be more research based on adult led play.
From my research i found that for children to develop to their potential they should have both structured play and free play.
It may be an activity out of the child's capability
The child does not have freedom of choice
Helps language and development
Gives children a wider range of activities

Although adult led play is important Moyles focused on the fact a child should be allowed to play freely, and then have structured play, and then play freely again.
Piaget says "A child's development is based on interaction with the environment."
Janet Moyles focuses on the fact a child should learn by themselves first before they have adult led play and activities.

The EYFS is a statutory guidance and it proves that you need adult led play as you are involved in a child's play. As a practitioner you need to plan for the children to extend their development.
