Imperfect Fungi By: Marzani Hall
Fungi Imperfect also know as Imperfect Fungi or Deuteromycota ( Greek for "second fungi") are reproduced by sexual reproduction. There are 25,000 species of imperfect fungi. This group of fungi produce their spores by asexually. Imperfect fungi looks like a bunch of polka dots on strings on a stalk. Some examples of imperfect fungi are Athletes foot, and Ringworm.
This group contains 12 different species. For an ex. Penicillium is one specie and it is a white fur like you see on this orange.
Oryzae is a worldwide fungus that is used in soy sauce. It reproduces by asexual which means they only need one parent. It is also a protein.
Penicillium is a major thing in the environment such as food and drug production.
Fusarium is a large filmamentous fungi in soil and plants. Its found in rice, bean, and soybeans.
Imperfect fungi reproduces by sexual, But it has not been observed. Their asexual of reproduction is know.
Aspergillus is one kind of imperfect fungi. It is the fungi that causes diseases with individuals.
The other thing I learned about Imperfect fungi is that they are heterotroph which means they hunt for their food. I thought that was really cool because I though they would make their own food but I guess not. They feed off of plants.
