Phase 1: Prep 1

  • Metatarsal: Isometric Contraction
  • Talotibial: Plantar Flexion, Concentric Contraction
  • Tibiofemoral: Eversion of the foot
  • Patellofemoral: Horizontal abduction extension
  • Hip: Horizontal abduction extension

Cervical Spine/Spinal Joints:

-Isometric contraction

Scapular:

-Isometric retraction

Glenohumeral Joint:

-Isometric flexion

Humeroulnar Joint:

-Isometric extension

-Horizontal adduction

Radioulnar Joint:

-Isometric Pronation

Radiocarpal Joint:

-Isometric extension

Radiocarpal:

-Eccentric Adduction

Metacarpophalangeal and Interphalangeal Joints:

Your arms come open to a second

position (following your leg).

  • In preparation with a right Pirouette, your right leg steps out. While your right toe is pointed away from your body.
  • Dance count 1 and 2
  • The dance count is 5 and 6
  • The dancer springs up on point while holding her leg in a ballet passe. This turn is done while holding her center The turn is 360 degrees.

  • Talotibial: Dorsiflexion concentric contraction
  • Tibiofemoral: Dorsi Flexion, Concentric Contraction

  • The dance count for Phase 2 of the legs is 3 and 4
  • Your legs step into 4th position with your right leg slightly up for releve (could change for jazz or ballet)

  • The dance count is 7 and 8 (The full pirouette is 1 count of 8. The landing is a repeat of Phase 2 (please see the listing of mechanics on the slide of phase 2)
