- Divide area & objects into halves to figure out size & placement of the next thing you are drawing.
- Compare the placement & size of objects with one another.
5 Tips
To help you answer the 3 questions
1. Find ways to measure
- Usually use for images you find complicated or difficult or when you are making an image dramatically bigger.
- Draw a grid on the original image and on your paper (same arrangement of squares on each).
Answer 3 Key Questions about what you are drawing:
Shape ?
Size?
Placement?
2. Draw Lightly!
3. Focus on the BIG PICTURE first.
Draw the contour (outer edge) lines 1st.
Draw detail lines 2nd.
Start with simple shapes & forms. Reshape these into the way the object actually looks.
4. Draw positive & negative space.
* Each time you draw for accuracy, answer these 3 questions. Use your observation of what is in the original picture and what you have drawn on your paper to answer them.
Positive Space: Objects
Negative Space: Area around objects
5. When objects overlap, draw the entire contour line and then erase the part that is covered up.
