The California Children's Services (CCS) provides eligible children with:
CCS covers many problems that are physically disabling or that need to be treated with medicine, surgery, or rehabilitation.
If the child is not enrolled in a Medi-Cal managed care plan, CCS can pay for an exam to see if CCS can cover the child's problem.
Some conditions are:
MTP provides physical therapy (PT), occupation therapy (OT) , and medical therapy conference (MTC) services to eligible children.
1927: Began as a program to care for children disabled by polio
1935: Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" established grants to states for Maternal and Child Welfare
1965: Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" extended medical benefits to all children in low-income households
Now: Expanded to serve more children with childhood illnesses & conditions over the years.
Diagnosed neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, or muscular diseases such as:
- cerebral palsy
- poliomyelitis
- myasthenias
- muscular dystrophies
- rheumatoid arthritis
- amputation
Children with two or more of the following neurologic findings:
1. Exaggerations of or persistence of primitive reflexes beyond normal age
2. Increased DTRs (3+ or greater)
3. Abnormal posturing
4. Hypotonicity with normal or increased DTRs in infants below age 1
5. Asymmetry of neurologic motor findings of trunk and/or extremities
Be under 21 years old
Be a resident of California
Have or may have a medical problem that CCS covers
