the fall line is a geological boundary about twenty miles wide that runs across Georgia northeastward from Columbus to Augusta. As the Mesozoic shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean, it separates Upper Coastal Plain sedimentary rocks to the south from Piedmont crystalline rocks to the north.

The five physiographic regions of Georgia are the Coastal Plain, the Piedmont Region, the Blue Ridge Region, the Ridge and Valley Region, and the Appalachian Plateau.

Coastal Plains
Ridge Valley Region
occupies most of northwestern portion of Georgia. It includes the Chickamauga Valley, Armuchee Ridges, and the Great Valley.

this mountainous province is found in extreme northwestern Georgia. Its most prominent features are Lookout and Sand Mountains.
occupies the northeastern portion of Georgia. It consists of an irregular sequence of mountains, ridges, and basins. The Blue Ridge Mountains and Cohutta Mountains form most of this province.

Okefenokee Swamp
The largest swamp in North America, the Okefenokee Swamp covers roughly 700 square miles and is located in the southeastern corner of Georgia,Cypress swamps, winding waterways, and floating peat mats are a major part of the Okefenokee's habitat mosaic.Okefenokee Swamp encompassing most of Charlton and Ware counties and parts of Brantley and Clinch counties. The swamp has a distinctive and fascinating natural history.
Appalachian Mountains
Generally temperatures air humid, the climate in the Appalachian presnts sharp contrast. Altitudes below 2,000 ft usually have milder weather in the hills of northwestern Georgia and northeastern and north-central Alabama.
Barrier Islands
The Georgia Coast enjoys a subtropical climate with long hot summers and mild winters during which temperatures rarely fall below freezing. The coast receives 30-50 inches of rain annually. Thunderstorms generate most of the summer rainfall as the Bermuda High Pressure system dominates the region keeping low-pressure storms away.
