My dad was a teenager in the late '60s and early 70's.
He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and moved to Chicago when he was barely a teenager.

My dad, along with his generation, thought that he was the guy who escalated our involvement in a war we didn't ever belong in. He was the definition of "The Man." The generation of the '60s rebeled against his actions and he couldn't handle the pressure.
Like my dad, thought that non-violent protesting was key to showing "that police forces that reacted with violence were the real bad guys."
Many saw it as a waste.
