-Patriot forces held at first because of the palmetto tree made Fort Moultrie *Battle of Sullivan's Island*
-British were successful the second time that they attacked because the British blockaded supply lines, and trapped Patriot troops

How Separation of Power, Checks and Balances, and the Constitution Works in America
Palmetto Tree is our State Tree
-British Regulars and Loyalists stopped at King's Mountain
-Mountain men from both North and South Carolina attacked the British while hiding behind trees and rocks
-British surrendered but were given no mercy by the mountain men and were killed
-This was retaliation for harsh treatment
by the British (When?)
-Turning point because British retreated from Upcountry after this battle

What happened during the Battle of Eutaw Springs? Why was this battle important?
-British hanged an Patriot Colonel Isaac

-Nathniel Greene retaliated and took enough British officers at the Battle of Eutaw Springs to ensure that no more executions took place
-Disputed who won the battle, but British lost many men and the battle was seen as a victory by Patriots
