- Good bacteria is essential for sustaining life on Earth.
Drug resistance
- Bad bacteria has a huge negative impact on human health and therefore is harmful to the overall environment.

- Bacteria resistant to one or more antibiotics are considered mulitdrug resistent (MDR) or, "superbugs".

- Intestinal bacteria also produce some vitamins needed by the body.
- Certain kinds of bacteria live in the intestines of human beings and other animals. These bacteria help in digestion and in destroying harmful organisms.
- The consuquences are prolonged illness and possibly death.
- Bacteria caused illnesses cost the United States billions of dollars a year in the hospital and other medical expense.
- There are bacteria that make us sick. These diseases are cholera, gonorrhea, leprosy, pneumonia, syphilis, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, and whooping cough.
- On the other hand, beneficial bacteria in the form of probiotics for instance, can prevent intestinal and other disease therefore saving a significant amount of medical expense.
- Bacteria on the skin keeps the skin healthy and protects against fungus infections.
- The symptoms of bacterial infection are fever, vomiting and fatigue.
