People living in Mohenjodaro lived in brick houses with 1-12 rooms. Less wealthy people lived in
smaller houses and wealthier people lived in bigger houses. One of the most impressive things was their sewer systems carrying waste and dirty water in clay pipes to empty in the Indus River. Deep wells were also located through out the city made of brick and used to store water including from rain falls.
Archeologists have found jewelry and beads
of many shapes and colors. These were probably worn by woman as bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings. Archeologists have also found stone seals. There have been many found! They are carved with pictures of animals. They may have been worn as charms to keep evil away or been pressed in wax to make a tag and show who owned goods.

Mohenjodaro is a very old city that
archeologists found and dug up the ruins
of in 1922. It was beleived to once have
50,000 people. The city was completely made of mud brick. The city had impressive
houses, sewer systems and many statues and items found.
The people of Mohenjodaro loved to play games. They made toys and parts to play games. They made stone balls, dice, clay tracks and stone game boards. Scientists think that chess may have came from India because archeologists found a game peice called a pawn. They also found a large 8 foot deep pool in the city they most likely used to bathe in. Some archeologists think it could have been used for religious ceremonies. They have also found clay models that they may have used for kids toys.
What happened to all the 50,000 people that once lived in the large city of Mohenjodaro? Some scientists believe that the hostile invaders may have driven them out, but no one really knows. They most likely vanished in about 1,900 B.C.E. There is not much evidence. Archeologist have found statues of what men may have looked like when they lived there, or maybe it was one of their gods.
