From ancient epochs the church was the right hand of them government like it we saw in the times French pre-revolution, the Catholic Church was a great influence for the government, and directed many of the rules for which the government then forced, if they were just or not. The Catholic Church was certainly guilty of being corrupt, and to use the fear to influence the people of France the obedience to his laws.
