Timeline of Turkmenistan

In July of 2007, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan decide to build a pipeline in the Caspian Sea to ensure access to Turkmen gas.

In 1992, Turkmenistan started a new constitution which allowed the president to be the head of government and state.

President Berdymukhamedov limited the number of satellite dishes in Turkmenistan. He wanted to restrict access to foreign countries and their media.

Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov was re-elected and the people of Turkmenistan declared his second term as "An era of happiness."

On August 7, 1921, Turkmenistan became an independent Soviet Socialist Republic.

I believe this is significant because, I think this helped Turkmenistan become more united as a country and this opened up many alliances with other members of the SSR.

I believe this is significant because technology was developing a lot during that era of time. If president Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov limited the peoples satellite dish numbers, how do expect the people and yourself to know the news of the world. How are you supposed to keep up with the rest of the world. I find it unfair that he did that because important things happen in the media, and everyone should have access and the right to know what is happening else where.

I believe this is significant because with a president in-charge, the people of Turkmenistan could be heard. This also allowed Saparmurat Niyazov to appoint people into government to help him run Turkmenistan.

I believe this is significant because just the year before (2011) they were the third most corrupt country in the world. With the people feeling that this is an era of happiness, good things can happen. When you think positive, positive things will happen. I think that the president and all of his government and the people of Turkmenistan will do everything they can to restore their country in which they know and love.

I believe this is significant because this shows that Turkmenistan has many allies, also that it is abundant in its gas supply and gas is a major non renewable natural resource which can give the country many riches.

In 2011, Turkmenistan was voted the third most corrupt country in the world.

In 1997, Turkmenistan gets legalization to own their own private ownership of land.

In 2008, the people of Turkmenistan approved of the new and improved constitution. This allowed a variety of systems to be part of the government.

In 600 BC, Cyrus the Great created the Persian Empire which Turkmenistan was part of.

On Decemeber 21, 1991, Turkmenistan became a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States just before the collapse of the USSR.

I believe this is significant because the CIS’s functions are to coordinate its members’ policies regarding their economies, foreign relations, defense, immigration policies, environmental protection, and law enforcement.

I believe this is significant because, with a new and improved constitution, brings almost a new beginning. There are new options and ways to solve problems which may be more efficient and beneficial to the country due to new policies. This also strengthens their government and the people, once again, can and will be heard.

I believe this is significant because this was basically the beginning of Turkmenistan. Because they joined, their profit in trade increased because the Persians controlled it.

I believe this is significant because out of the many countries in the world, Turkmenistan is in the top 3 for being the most corrupt. I think we mainly focus on the countries in Africa, when we should be equally helping Turkmenistan. We could all contribute and help this country. Wouldn't you want help if our country was in their shoes...?

I believe this is significant because now Turkmenistan has complete authorization of their land. Their land is truly their land and it was before, but they just legalized it.
