Did Jesus Know?

Judas kiss me if offenced

Of course he did!He foreshadowed this occurrence during the last supper. He said " Truly, truly, I tell you that one of you will betray me, someone who is eating with me right now. It is one of the twelve, He who dips his hand with me in the dish, the same is the one who will betray me." He proclaimed that whoever he gave his bread to, was going to become a traitor, and then have the bread to Judas.

Judas repented for betraying Jesus and returned the money. He soon after died (He either committed suicide by hanging himself or fell off a cliff where his "bowls gushed out."). If he went to heaven or hell is debated.

The Betrayal

Allusion Example #2

Chronicles of Narnia

By: C. S. Lewis

Although Judas had an extraordinary relationship with Jesus, his worldliness and love of money transformed him into a traitor. He betrayed Jesus and sided with the enemy for money (30 pieces of silver.) He committed this sin by leading the chief priests (Romans) to Jesus and indicated who Jesus was by giving him a kiss on the cheek. This led to the arrest and crucifixion (death) of the son of God. Judas' dishonesty was a great transgression that has causes him to become a well known and notorious deceiver. Some interpretations of the Bible indicate that the devil had possessed Judas, causing him to execute the betrayal. However, it must be noted that the death of Jesus is directly correlated to Judas becoming an accomplice.

In the novel/movie Lewis uses an allusion to Judas through Edmund. This character not only betrays his siblings, but also Aslan by siding with the White Witch. She promises him "Turkish Delight" and the position of king. This leads to Aslan being killed... but later he resurrects (Just like Jesus!)

He was intrusted to control the money given to help the needy, and he soon became greedy and treacherous
