  • Low percentage of responses from customers (10% is considered good)
  • Incorrect customer information=waste of company money
  • People consider direct printed mail to be junk mail
  • Cost of printed direct mail can be high considering the amount of work needed to get their message to the customers
  • Easy way to keep customers informed about products, services or upcoming sales
  • Cost effective
  • Use information about existing customers to create strategies and gain new and loyal customers
  • Can be represented in many different forms such as letters, catalogs, and postcards

Direct mail is a derivative of a more general term known as direct marketing. Direct marketing is then broken up more specifically into printed direct mail which can be sent to a home or business and electronic direct mail which is delivered to an e-mail address
