His father was a French engineer and plantation farmer.

Norbert's father sent him to France to study engineering.

He died on October 8, 1894.
What Norbert Invented:
Norbert invented the Suger Processing Evaporator.
Norbert Rillieux's invention:
The problem his invention solves is that it safely saves money and time in the making of suger from suger beets and/or suger cane.
The Sugar Processing Evaporator is still widely used in the industry today.
