The Evolution of Hockey Skates

  • The first ever documented pair of "skates" were found at the bottom of a lake in Switzerland.
  • They were dated back to about 3000 bc and were made of carved animal leg bones with leather straps.

Advancements of the 1900's

  • In 1908, Starr manufacturing came out with the first goalie specialized skate. It was called the "Centaur" and it featured puck stop technology in the blade.
