  • The colonists felt that he didn't treat them fairly.
  • They didn't like the heavy taxes he imposed on them.

John Adams

  • He was the commander of the Continental Army.
  • People thought he was a great leader.
  • He went on to become the first president of the United States.
  • Where do you often see him?

Benjamin Franklin

  • He is remembered for his patriotism.
  • He was a political leader in Virginia.
  • His statement "Give me liberty, or give me death!" is still famous today. It convinced the Virginia leaders to send in troops to fight.
  • He was first a lawyer in Massachusetts.
  • He protested against the Stamp Act and also served on a committee for the Declaration of Independence.
  • He later became the second president of the United States.
  • He was an inventor and scientist.
