- Combined many small federal agencies into one large agency which created more orginization.
- this bill was passed to help propel intelligence sharing and establish a new crisis response group.
- mainly created to help defend against terrorism

Pros of The Patriot act
national defense
Department of Defense
National defense
- rationalizes between varying companies which can work as one to look into terrorist activities.
- This also provides for easier ways of surveillance and investigation.
- This also gets rid of lots of barriers which law enforcement encountered if they required imposing surveillance or investigation on an alleged terrorist very fast.
- The U.S. spent more on defense in 2012 than did the countries with the next 10 highest defense budgets combined.
- today’s spending is more about politics than defense. (which basically means to make us look better than other countries.)
- in the year 1990 the usa had 750,000 active troops.
- presently there are about 510,000 active troops.
- The amount of man power over the past 2 decades has gone down, but the amount of machine power has gone up.
- national defense does not need as much troops because we have the technology to make up for the amount of troops that are not volunteering
- It is an excutive branch deparment that supervises all agencis and functions associated with national defense
- This department is the largest employer of the world
- The Department of Defense is headed by the Secretary of Defense, a cabinet-level head who reports directly to the President of the United States.
Patriot act continued
- The peak and sneak provision let police collect intelligence without warning a terrorist cell which they have been discovered.(kinda like wiretapping)
- This also offers enhanced funding for those victims of attacks and the rest of families and for the restoring of business which are affects by the attack.
- The Patriot Act provisions were carefully made in reply to the cases which led up to the terrorist attack happen on September 11, 2011.
