Apollo 13

Missions

Apollo 13 was another one of the Apollo fleet's spacecrafts. It was supposed to land on the moon, but during it's flight had a major problem. A oxygen tank exploded mid-journey and they were forced back to Earth. It was a very close call because they were losing oxygen very quickly.

Monumental Missions

Curiosity:

Curiosity was a mission by NASA in which a probe was sent to Mars. This probe has since become a rover and takes frequent images of Mars' surface. The probe also takes samples of Mars' rocky ground.

NASA has made an un-imaginable effect on the understanding of our Solar System. From sending the first manned spacecraft to the moon to sending a permanent spacecraft into space (ISS). From the beginning of time, people have wondered what was up in space and NASA has brought that dream of understanding the universe ever closer.

Major Contribution

NASA is an organisation who has majorly contributed in the space race. NASA has created some of the the most advanced technology of the century. This includes the many missions that NASA has led and the scientific advances and discoveries made by their spacecrafts and telescopes, such as the Hubble mission and the Apollo missions.

Welcome

Why Show You These Missions?

These 3 missions are, as I believe, some of the most influential missions that NASA has run. They use some amazing technology such as the high - quality cameras on the Curiosity and ability to get back to Earth with all alive whilst in a crisis in space. Therefore, as NASA's technology advances further than it is now, we will understand even more about the universe.

Hello, my name is Jack Wijesekera and I am a worker here at the National Air and Space Museum today I will be talking to you about NASA and it's effects on the understanding of our Solar System.

I will talk about special missions and the growth made by NASA in understanding the universe.
