Active Listening: way of listening that improves mutual understanding
- A flexible, educational process in a safe forum for disputing parties to express themselves and resolve differences
- Facilitated by a neutral third party who helps disputants come to their own conclusions
- People involved choose to be there
- Each person has equal opportunity to voice perspectives, clarify issues & explore options for resolution
- Process is typically confidential, in a neutral location
