George Counts' novel
George S. Counts
Social Reconstructionism is the theory of making a better world by questioning society. Education would have come to a stop if theorists like George S. Counts did not question society's look on education. Counts knew that social forces had a very strong impact on the educational system.
George S. Counts
George Sylvester Counts was born in Kansas, where he spent his childhood. Counts went to Baker University to get his degree in "classical studies" in 1911. After he received his degree, he worked at a high school as a math and science teacher, a principal and a coach. After his work in high school Counts decided to go to graduate school to major in education and minor in sociology (rather than psychology). George Counts graduated with honors, earning his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
