Amusement Park: Cell Analogy

Cytoskeleton

The cytoskeleton is like the foundation, structure of rollercoasters, and signs, because the cytoskeleton gives the cell its shape and structure, while organizing movement and cell division. This is done in the same way by these, because they give the park its structure while signs provide info for where everything is.

Overall Analogy

Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts are like solar generators for rides, because the chloroplast produces energy from sunlight in the same way the solar generators produce energy from sunlight for the rides as an alternate energy.

Mitochondrion

The mitochondrion is like the power station because the mitochondrion powers the cell in the same way the power station powers the park and all attractions.

A plant cell is like an amusement park, because the cell produces proteins, and operates with many functions to benefit the organism. This is done in the same way by an amusement park when it produces food and provides happiness to the customers.

Lysosome

The lysosomes are like trash/recycle bins, because the lysosome digests and gets rid of unwanted materials in the same way the trash/recycle bins get rid of unwanted trash. Recycling goes through a process similar to digesting.

Cell Wall

The cell wall is like the fence around the park because the cell wall provides a rigid structure for the cell in the same way the fence provides a rigid structure for the park.

Central Fancy Restaurant

The nucleolus is like the central fancy restaurant because the nucleolus is within the nucleus, and makes ribosomes in the same way the fancy restaurant is within the info center, and makes food for the people. Food stands surround it as well. (Links to ribosomes)

Jobs Assigned/ Chromosomes

Chromosomes are like jobs that workers are assigned to do, because chromosomes contain instructions for different organelles to carry out in the same way the jobs and tasks assigned tell each employee what to do to carry out everyday tasks.

The smooth ER is like pathways and sidewalks in the park because the smooth ER provides other forms of transport without ribosomes, in the same way pathways and sidewalks provide transportation throughout the park.

Golgi Apparatus

The Golgi Apparatus is like shops and stores by the exit because the Golgi Apparatus sorts and packages proteins for transport out of the cell in the same way shops package things that you buy just before you are sent out of the park.
