What Did Ernest H Volwiler invent?
Ernest Volwiler helped invent Sodium Thiopental and Pentobarbital which was used widely for medical purposes.
Sodium Thiopental is a rapid-onset short-acting barbiturate general anesthetic that is an analogue of thiobarbital. It has been largely replaced with propofol but still remains somewhat popular now.
Pentobarbital is often used as a sedative, hypnotic, preanesthetic and control of covulsions in emergencies. Pentobarbital was also used for executions of convicted criminals.
